Mile Run Benchmark

This week in Relentless ATX Athletic Training classes, athletes took on the mile run benchmark. This benchmark comes up every 3 months, and each time we do it, we see improvements in times scored by our athletes. It is not unusual for athletes to set personal records during this benchmark, making it one of the most exciting and anticipated benchmark workouts we do in class.  Don’t get me wrong, not everyone likes to run a mile for time. In fact, I’d say most of our athletes dread this benchmark. But, love it or hate it, it’s a GREAT measure of improvement in speed, endurance, and stamina as they relate to overall fitness.

I’m proud of all of my athletes for their effort on this benchmark, including the following who had the most noteworthy results:

 - Denise, with a time of 6:32 shaved 24 seconds off of her previous personal best set when she was only 13. Her 35th birthday was 2/1. BADASS!

 - Natalie, with a time of 7:02 beat her previous PR by 46 seconds, only 3 days after setting a new half marathon PR of 1:56:05 (8 minutes faster!). AMAZING!

 - Scott, with a time of 8:58 set a new PR and kept a steady pace the entire time. He’s also gone up in KB weight to Rx. ON FIRE!

- Super-Fit couple Lauren and Sean both set new PRs with times of 6:22 and 6:46, respectively. DYNAMIC DUO!

 - Matt, with a time of 6:15, and James with a time of 6:21 both set new PRs and gave the rest of the class a few rabbit to chase. These two continue to impress me. PACE SETTERS!

-  Jesse, with a new sub-7 PR, and Claire with a time of 7:55 both shaved 30 seconds+ off their former times. UNSTOPPABLE!

And finally, my favorite story from this week comes courtesy of one of the our OG athletes, Latisha. Last night, Latisha finished HER 1ST FULL MILE RUN with Relentless. Keeping a steady pace and not walking, she finished in 12 minutes. I could not be more proud of Latisha for stepping up her game in class recently. She’s using Rx weight and pushing herself hard! She inspires me to reach higher, push harder, do more. THANK YOU, Latisha for the hard work and determination. Athletes like you are what make my job so amazing!
